GENERAL REQUESTS
1. Easier Changing Of Passwords
Display a "Change Password"-Button in some place where it is easy to find (Menu „File – Change Password“, log-on dialog , password-expired-dialog !!!) The users can’t find this function too often. Once the password expires automatically offer the user to change it !
2. Remove the "Random Password Generator"
Well does anybody even heard of someone who uses it ?
3. Make the messagebox "You have to change the password i X days" into a text
Most users still use the time untill the last day before changing the password. It would be better if they would not have to "confirm" this messagebox every day. A simple text inside the password-dialog should be enough.

5. After LN crashes users need to log-off from Windows
Several processes are sometimes not terminated after a crash occures. It would be nice if once the client is started again these processes would be killed by force and the client would start again. (If a user experiences this behaviour he finds it always EXTREMLY annoying and it influences his opinion about the product a lot.)
6. Allow the remapping of the F5-key to do a "Refresh"
This has been discussed a little or hasn’t it ?
7. Change the behaviour of document selection in views
While holding SHIFT selects all documents between the currently selected document and the one thats selected next.) Prohibit the selection of categories at all ? Or make it that way that if I select a category that all documents inside are selected as well ?
8. Workspace/ReplicatorPage gets filled with old icon-entries
Everytime a new database is opened it gets automatically added. For Administrators,Developers and Power-Users this makes the desktop/bookmarks "messy".It would be nice if it could be turned off.
9. Calendar-Alarms get the focus while working in a different application
A more "subtile" visual information about be alarm would be better which does not "take the focus" on itself. The same problem is with the visual „You have new mail“-messagebox.
10. Add a "File-Attach"-Button into the Memo-Form
Make the "File-Attach" function automatically place the cursor at the end of the first Rich-Text-Field of the form.
11. Large E-Mail Warning
BEFORE (!!!) sending/saving an e-Mail give the user a (subtile) warning (even a blinking icon would be enough) if the size of the message is larger then (< 1 MB, 5 MB, 10 MB). This would prevent network bandwith and educate people to get a feeling for what is „big“ and what is not. (Should be possible to turn off.)
12. Display in the mail file the current usage of the quota
"You are using 200 MB of your 500 MB". Or graphical or something else ... (See the OpenNTF-Mail-Template)
13. Give us a "-Cancelled-" Status for Calendar-Entries
These could be displayed as "strike-through" in the calendar.
14. Save one individual e-mail (better any document) as a file to the file system
(Would be nice if you could use some universal format *.ond/*.eml/*.xml)
15. Make Type-Ahead a „combobox“
The type-ahead functionality like the one in Gmail is much better then the currently used in LN. When you type the first letters then the name is not „attached“ but rather the available choices appear in a temporary combobox beneath the field
16. Improved UI of the personal Addressbook
This database needs badly a redesign.
17. Contacts in the Mail-DB
The contacts, which are now in the local Addressbook, should be stored in the users mail-database.This would make it consistent with DWA and better for backups.
18. New export/import formats
Let us export and import to MS-Excel (*.xls) format. (Many people dont know what a "Tabular-Text" or „Comma-Separated-File“ is ...) And while you are at it also *.ODF and *.PDF and *.HTML ? And it would be nice if we could get access to this export-functions through LotusScript as well.
19. Compact All Local Databases
It is quite time consuming to start the compact of every local-replica separately. A simple "compact all" would save the users a lot of space on their laptops and make the dbs respond faster.
20. Clean-Up Workspace/Replicator Page
Checks if all databases are available and offers and allows to remove all the "dead" icons.
21. Automatic Location suggestion/switch according to the subnet/ip address
After start the Notes-Client could automatically check the network and switch (suggest) to the proper "Location". (See IBM Thinkvantage Access Connections.)
22. Inform a user when his location is NOT "Island" and he opens a local database,
which has a replica on his home server about this action. (Messagebox + option "Don't display again") (Users sometimes open local replicas unintentionally when they are in the office. This would remind them to "place" the server-replica-icon on top of there icon-stack.)
23. Replicate two databases between two Notes-Clients (without a server)
OK it sounds strange, but i had this request. Would anybody else need this ?
24. Resorting of a view should be "cleared" once the user closes and reopens a database
I think that it is already a preference setting in R7, so maybe this has been resolved.
25. Make the "Shift- View Goto"-Trick only available if the Designer is installed
Many admins would like it if users could not look into hidden views that easily. (I know that this is not a "real" security solution, but it would help a little.)
26. Remove the "Encryption" Tab on the document properties-box
Sometimes users manage to find it and encrypt/lock with reader fields some documents. It is really a pain to resolve these problems. Please leave encryption and reader-fields up the the developers of the databases.
27. Create a function which is only available from a Conflict-Document "COMPARE WITH PARENT"
which will list in a dialog the differences between the two documents. (There was an undocumented function for this maybe its still around.)
DEVELOPER REQUESTS:
28. Provide us with a XSL-Stylesheet to completly display exported DXL-content of Rich-Text-Fields
Well with DXL it is now very easy to export any richtext out of LN. But to display it properly in HTML is a pain. Why do we all have to write our own primitive XSL-Stylesheets if it could be done once and perfect ?
29. Pixels as measurement unit
Add "Pixels" as an additional measurement unit for margins, table sizes and wherever possible.This would make it easier to exactly postion tables and texts.
30. Dockable tables
Make tables "dockable".This means that they can be placed "on top" of each without even one pixel between them.
31. Could we get a debugger for Java ?
Most developers are used to Lotus-Script. They would not have much of a problem to write scripts in Java. The general syntax can be learned in a few hours and the main knowledge lies actually in the object-modell of the Notes-Classes, which are identical to LotusScript. However what we are missing is a step-by-step code debugger like the one for LotusScript. Once we get this you will see immedialtely a increased usage of Java in LN.
32. Replica-ID format
Please make @-Functions and LotusScript both use any format of the Replica-ID (with or without the „:“). (Ok its not important really, but why not make our lives easier )
33. Computed View-Column-Titles
Right now you have to use „fixed“ text values in column titles. This makes it difficult to design multi-language applications as it is not acceptable to create several copies of a view only to get proper titles on it. Everywere else (forms,outlines,... )we can easily compute texts so why not here.
ANNOYING PROBLEMS I KNOW FROM PREVIOUS VERSION:

35. Mail-Rules still have problems and don't work well sometimes
36. Allow the user to open a view from the same database several times
(I think that this works in R7)
37. Dates of Calendar-Entries that span across several days can not be rescheduled anymore

Why open a PMR for a known problem? IBM will fix problems with high weight (=multiple customers reporting the same problem/wish) first.

I think the idea is not to have the need to synch at all but moving the contacts into the maildb and have no contacts in the names.nsf at all.
Currently you can do parts of that by using a customized mailtemplate but what remains is the typeahead feature not using the contacts in the maildb (even if locally).

Have a profile document so that users can change preferences ONCE.
For example the silliness about "Cell Phone" in the USA, where elsewhere it is usually " Mobile Phone".
My impression is that the PAB really hasn't had any work on it since 4.0.
